About the NQSBDC
The North Queensland Small Business Development Centre in Townsville is a not-for-profit, incorporated association with offices in Townsville and Ayr.
We have a voluntary board of management made up of representatives from key stakeholder organisations including small business, local governments and the business associations (chambers of commerce).
We provide business development services to owners and managers of new and existing businesses in the Townsville region.

Our vision is to be recognised as a locally-based world class incubator and small business development organisation.
Our mission statement is to be committed to long term economic growth by adding value to new and existing businesses and facilitating the establishment of small businesses and supporting their ongoing growth – it is hoped this will lead to increased sustainable job creation in the region.
Our Mission will be achieved by:
- Maintaining a public profile to ensure that prospective clients are aware of our services.
- Providing a range of employment, training and enterprise programs to assist people to develop skills and to find work.
- Providing a centre that serves as a focus for the stimulus of enterprise in the local community through the generation of viable and sustainable employment.
- Providing support and assistance towards the development of new business enterprises and the expansion of existing enterprises.
- Entrepreneurial activity.
- Providing facilitation services to proposed and existing small business owners/managers.
- Increasing client awareness of other sources of information available to them in establishing or improving their small businesses.
- Providing referral services for clients to specialist advisors, accountants, lawyers, marketing etc.
- Provision of business skills development workshops and seminars for small business clients.
- Working cooperatively with regional stakeholders to identify opportunities to provide improved service delivery in terms of quality, quantity and availability.
- Maintaining staff professionalism and integrity at high levels to ensure that clients are treated with the utmost courtesy, respect and confidentiality.
- The efficient allocation of financial, personnel and physical resources so that the resource allocation to the service of clients is maximised.
- Establishing and operating a shared workspace centre at Vickers Road North, Condon, Townsville.
- Engaging in activities intended to alleviate unemployment and to encourage local economic development.
- Creating and managing a venue or venues at premises to be purchased, leased or otherwise acquired by the association for educational training and the development of small business skills.
- Providing a venue or venues for persons to establish and carry on their own business ventures.
- Operating workplace projects.
- Carrying on any activity which may be advantageously run in connection with any objects of the association.
- Operating as a not-for-profit benevolent institution.
- Ensuring that the property and income of the association shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the objects or purposes of the association and no part of that property or income may be paid or otherwise distributed directly or indirectly to a member of the association, except in good faith in the promotion of those objects or purposes.
Our organisation receives its core funding from the Australian Federal Government.
